Description

1972 Chevy Vega drag car (untitled) with a 509 cubic inch big block motor based on the Chevy design specs (the block is actually a Merlin III by World Products Inc). The current motor is a reconfigured version of the original featuring an update with Dart cylinder heads and intake manifold. The chassis was recertified by NHRA in April of this year. Also, to be certification compliant, a new flex plate and 5 point harness was installed in April of this year. This is a historic race car that was campaigned on the West Coast for three decades, first by the original owner Dick Williams, who had the car built, and then by Jim Adams. The car won a NHRA national event at Pacific Raceway and was the Region 6 SST (Super Street) Champion in 2007. This car not only competed at all of the Region 6 drag strips, but was raced in Arizona and Nevada. The car has set idle since 2020 with the onset of Covid 19. The quality built 509 cubic inch motor features the following components: *Merlin III cast iron block *Callies Dragon Slayer crank *Callies Dragon Slayer rods *SRP pistons *Akerly & Childs rings *Erson 7/4 swap roller cam *Crower roller lifters *Jesel rockers *Dart heads *Dart intake manifold *Holley 4500 Dominator *MSD 7AL-3 electronic ignition *Meziere electric water pump There have been between 45 and 50 runs made on the motor since it was last freshened up, it should be good for another 75-100 before it will need freshened up again. The transmission is a BTE Powerglide equipped with a BTE Pro Trans Brake and a 5600 RPM stall speed converter. The ERC chassis and roll cage features the following components: *Chassisworks wheelie bars *Ford 9" modular rear end *Strange axles *Strange disc brakes *Weld Racing Wheels Other features include: *Dedenbear delay box *Dedenbear CO2 shifter *Autometer gauges The car has new Hoosier tires all around including 14.5" x 32" x 15" slicks. New brake pads have been installed and the brake lines flushed. The engine oil and transmission fluid has been changed. *Please note that this race car was professionally built from the ground up and will be sold with a bill of sale as there never was a title.
